'Stay indoors' warning as wind hits force 10

EMERGENCY services have advised people to stay indoors with winds expected to hit force 10.

The Met office issued a red weather warning this morning, with westerly storm force winds with gusts predicted at up to 70kts.

High tide at 7.8m is at 3.02pm.

Sailings of the Condor Liberation have been cancelled today, tomorrow and on Tuesday because of the stormy weather. The Clipper is running to a revised schedule.

'Emergency Services are advising members of the public to avoid unnecessary outdoors activity and to try and remain indoors,' a police spokesman said.

'The public are advised to check property including livestock, boats, moorings and outdoor property and equipment that may be affected by the predicted high winds.

'It is likely that the West coast roads will be affected by sea water debris and avoidance of these areas when making essential travel is recommended.'
