Among those set to go is the one in the airport departure lounge, at Rosaire Steps in Herm and at the harbour in Alderney.
The falling use of payphones in recent years has led to the decision, said a spokesman, ‘and many of the phone boxes around the island are unfortunately subject to vandalism’.
In the majority of cases where the phone is in a booth, that will be removed too.
But in the case of St John’s Street, St Peter Port, the booth is part of the building so it will remain.
Once all 20 of the payphones have been taken out of service, there will be 54 left in the Bailiwick.
