Success of dog-only zones ‘would be down to owners’

INTRODUCING dog-only zones is something that could be explored in Guernsey, the GSPCA has said, while others have warned that the success of such a scheme would be dependent on owners.

The fenced-off areas could be introduced in Jersey and the plans have prompted mixed reactions from Guernsey officials.

Dog owners at Saumarez Park seemed to think the success of such a plan would be dependent on the dog owners themselves.

Reaction to the idea was mixed.

‘I’m all for it, but the dogs off leads need to be social,’ said professional dog walker Marina Burr, 49.

‘Designated areas would put the onus more on the dog owners to clean up after their dogs I think.'
