Reverse around corner to go from driving test

REVERSING around a corner is being scrapped from the Guernsey driving test from April.

Changes are being made to the test that broadly mirror those being introduced in the UK.

From Monday 9 April, the reverse around a corner and turn in the road will be removed.

They will be replaced by a drive in/reverse out or reverse in/drive out of a parking space and a positional stop on the right of a road.

As part of the positional stop, drivers will be need to reverse for two car lengths.

'The reason for the change is that the new manoeuvres are considered to be ones that a driver is more likely to encounter within day-to-day driving,' a Driver and Vehicle Licensing spokesman said.
