Working parents short of time for ‘real nappies’

WORKING parents do not have the time to wash real nappies, some said yesterday, as they raised concerns about new fortnightly rubbish collections.

States Trading Assets said parents should consider real nappies as they look to cut down their refuse for the new collection, which will start in September.

But some parents have said that would not be practical.

Mother of five-month-old Evie, Eleanor John, 38, said the new collections would cause problems for some households.

‘People are really good at recycling – I don’t really understand why they have gone to two-weekly collections,’ she said.

‘They will get more fly tipping from people I think.

‘People don’t have big enough houses to store everything.’
