‘This is not a scenario that they win and we lose – everyone potentially wins,’ Keith Beecham, chief executive of Visit Jersey said. ‘If Guernsey attracts more visitors then no doubt those people will look to enjoy other parts of the Channel Islands and that is where we can potentially see some benefits as well.
Costumes and props from the film, including the movie’s potato peel pie dish, have gone on display at Candie Museum.
The big screen adaptation of the best-selling book will be released this month.
Guernsey’s head of heritage services, Jason Monaghan, said he had been keen to bring over props to display in the museum.
‘It is something a bit different,’ he said.
The chipped enamel potato peel pie dish is in the display, as well as the mocked-up, typed manuscript of the book.
There are also books as well lead character Juliet Ashton’s engagement ring. Mocked up copies of the Guernsey Press were also produced, as well as hand-written letters.
Three costumes have been lent to the museum and the film’s costumer designer came over to put them on the mannequins to ensure they were displayed correctly.
