The Royal Air Force aerobatic team were the feature of this year’s Guernsey Air Display after missing last year due to a diplomatic tour of Pakistan.

‘Whilst it is always very disappointing when the much admired, respected and loved Red Arrows are not available to display, we will be exercising every endeavour to ensure that the 2019 Guernsey Air Display builds on the strong success of the 2018 Air Display,’ said organiser and flying display director Barry Neal.

‘Plans are already well under way and we will be researching and exploring all opportunities for high calibre display teams for the 2019 Guernsey Air Display.’

The organisers have also submitted a separate request for a one-off display by the Red Arrows on Thursday 6 June 2019.

The success or failure of this will not be known until early next year.

This date was chosen because it does not conflict with any established weekend air shows in the UK and coincides with the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Organisers have said they would be happy to accept a different weekday date in either June or July if the requested one is not available.

Guernsey’s 52nd air display will take place on Thursday 12 September.
