The GSPCA is seeking anyone with information about the bucket which was found in a public car park in St Martin's.

It is unclear whether the chicks were dead or alive when they were left in the area.

GSPCA welfare manager Lorna Prince said the disposal of any life in this way is 'disgusting'.

'It is not clear if the birds were privately owned or whether a member of the public had taken it upon themselves to dispose of feral chicks in the area.

'Regardless of their origin, disposing of them in such a heartless manner is repugnant.'

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said it is not known how long the chicks were left.

'It is important - if anyone did touch the bucket - that they wash their hands as there is the chance of salmonella and other ailments.

'The birds were found earlier this morning [11/11/2019] in St Martins and anyone with any information [is asked to] please get in touch with us here at the GSPCA.'
