A Guernsey Harbours spokesman confirmed that one of the harbour cranes had to be used to lift the dolly out of the water on Tuesday afternoon at low tide.
‘The baggage dolly was removed as it could have become a hazard to shipping and navigation,’ he said.
‘An internal investigation is now under way to establish the reasons why the dolly ended up in the waters of St Peter Port Harbour.’
The picture was posted up on social media and a member of the public spotted that this was not the first time something like this has happened. They posted up an image of the Guernsey Star from 1957. In that case the British Railway truck had been pushed into the harbour.
