While apart, more than 60 recruits came together to salute the frontline workers and to recognise the commitment and hard work they are doing to keep Guernsey safe.

Senior Cadet, Jacob Bradley and his brother Edward both produced and edited the montage and the CCF Drum Corps provided the accompaniment on the soundtrack.

Jacob said the idea was inspired by some friends in the Sea Cadets that he has both on and off island.

'They began to salute at 8pm during the clap for carers,' he explained.

'As Senior Cadet of the Elizabeth College CCF, I really wanted to try to replicate this passion within our contingent.'

One of the CCF's core values is respect and Jacob said the salute seemed an excellent way to demonstrate it.

'Usually for a similar circumstance we would hold a parade and perform a general salute together however given the current situation this was clearly not an option, so I roped my brother into some video editing and the project started to come together.'

The CCF is actually a national scheme that operates in over 500 schools across Great Britain. Its all about personal development in responsibility, leadership and self-discipline through adventurous and educational activities. It follows military traits such as the uniform but is not military training.

At Elizabeth College, the recruits do a range of activities from survival skills and field craft to leadership tasks and overnight or off island camps.

Since lockdown, CCF has moved into the new 'Elizabeth College Virtual School' and is done via online learning.

This indoor time is being used to prioritise theory such as first aid and communication skills that will then free up even more time for the adventurous outdoor activities when schools return.

Jacob added: 'I would just like to re-iterate the words of the video which is on behalf of the entire CCF a big thank-you. CCF is all about facing challenges and we learn that even though you may not know what the outcome be we try to but our best effort in.

'The frontline workers of guernsey have really done just this with the coronavirus situation, we salute you.'
