Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services said F7-9 winds and a high 9.1m tide at 6.47am [2 October] are expected tomorrow.

'[This] means that kayak and canoe owners should remove their craft pulled up at the top of beaches or on slipways to their own property by mid-afternoon today to avoid them being washed out to sea,' they said.

'The Lifeboat crew and Channel Island Airsearch volunteers have been called out for several hours at a time in Guernsey and Jersey in recent months, to search for the occupants of empty kayaks drifting at sea.
