Takeaways will be coming back, as both deliveries or collection (outdoors only).

This first step will also see businesses being able to get back to work, but in strictly limited numbers of up to 10 for outdoor sites and five inside.

Islanders will be able to enjoy up to four hours exercise a day.

Mint Brasserie manager Tomas Gudelis said the restaurant’s takeaway service had proved popular since it started, and it went down well during the first lockdown last year.

Its full menu will be available, and he said he thought people would relish the chance to enjoy different food.

‘After lockdown you’ll be missing the different foods – Asian, fusion and the rest. British food you can do at home.’

It will be offering a home delivery service, but he said those who live in the area enjoyed coming to collect their food even with the distancing measures in place last time.

This time people picking up their order will have to do so outside.

‘It will be harder for someone who wants to collect,’ he said.

Takeaway will be available on Monday evening, and Mr Gudelis said the staff would be busy before then preparing the kitchen and baking cakes.

The Farmhouse in St Saviour’s will be offering takeaways, too, starting with lunch on Monday, but from Tuesday general manager Jasmine Schneider said they intended to provide brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

‘Basically, we’ll be open from nine in the morning,’ she said.

Service will be collection only. ‘We’re having a discussion today about how we’re going to work outside. Obviously we’re being very cautious and we want to follow all the guidelines.’

Its sister business, The Doghouse in the Rohais, will also be offering takeaways, but is used to serving customers outside since that was what it did last lockdown, said Ms Schneider.

She added that The Farmhouse had a lot of customers in the area and last time the takeaway had proved very popular.

Les Douvres Hotel is also set to repeat its takeaway service.

‘We did the same last year and it was very successful,’ said Little Big Hotel group operations director Charlie Walker.

‘A large car park will ensure collection outside the hotel is made easy,’ she said.

It will be collection only – there will not be a delivery service.

‘Staff are eager and desperate to get back to work so we’re very grateful that we’re starting to move through the phases of easing lockdown,’ she said.

‘All precautions will be taken and guidelines followed to ensure we can operate safely.’
