The 14-metre Isle of Herm was specially built for the island by Blyth Catamarans in Canvey Island, Essex.

Tony Le Flock is its skipper.

‘She is a fantastic seaworthy vessel, and I was very proud to bring her home,’ he said.

The vessel has done extensive sea trials in England and was delivered to Guernsey after a three-day, 300-mile journey from the boatbuilders. There are still a few things to complete, such as registration and minor fixtures and fittings, before the boat becomes operational, but Herm Island management is planning an official launch in August.

The vessel will be used for island staff and residents to begin with, before it is integrated into the business to work alongside Travel Trident, offering a VIP service for hotel and holiday cottage guests, as well as providing island schoolchildren, residents, and staff with a flexible service to suit their needs throughout the year.

She will replace the present island boat – Little Herm – which has served the island since 2004 and will now be sold.
