More than 800 Covid-19 cases in four days over New Year
MORE than 800 new Covid cases were found in the four days over New Year, the latest figures have revealed.
The 873 new cases, with more than 300 reported on Monday, takes the number of active cases to 2,223, as there were 669 recoveries over Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The latest figures also reveals there has been an additional death involving Covid, taking the total to eight.
There have also been 17 deaths due to Covid since the pandemic began.
The case number increase follows a steady rise in cases in recent weeks, as the Omicron variant takes hold in the island. Of the current cases, 85 are in Alderney, while the rest are in Guernsey. There are currently seven people in hospital.
Since the pandemic began there have been nearly 9,000 cases of Covid.
