Ms Lindfield received the Chief Ambulance Officer’s Recognition of Performance for receiving the highest number of messages of thanks from islanders in 2021.
Every year the St John Emergency Ambulance Service receives cards, emails and letters of thanks and appreciation from patients, carers and their families for the professional care and treatment provided by its clinicians.
Ms Lindfield estimated that she had been mentioned and thanked in approximately 14 messages.
‘It’s a really special reward because it’s something the public gives to you,’ she said.
‘It makes me happy and brings a smile to my face to think that people still remember and appreciate what I do for them while I’m going about my day-to- day job.’
Ms Lindfield was thanked by one patient for her ‘compassionate and professional care’. Others described her as ‘caring and gentle’ and ‘kind and understanding’. One message thanked her for helping make ‘a scary situation so much easier’.
However, the messages that stand out most to Ms Lindfield are those sent by parents of children she has helped.
The award was presented to her by St John board member Jurat David Hodgetts just before Christmas.
Paramedics Nicolette Hamon and Callum Gill were runners-up.
Ms Lindfield joined St John seven years ago, and has been a qualified EMT for five.
