Clipper freight-only due to crew Covid cases

COVID cases have forced Condor to operate a freight-only service with the Commodore Clipper until Saturday.

Condor Ferries’ operations director Elwyn Dop said a number of customer-facing cabin crew tested positive for Covid-19 overnight and are isolating.

‘We do not have the minimum legal number to offer a passenger service,’ he said.

‘The situation only developed on Tuesday night and we were unable to source standby crew at such short notice so this decision had to be made at the last minute.’

The Clipper will remain freight-only until Saturday so all passengers are being transferred to high speed services from Poole, which run tomorrow, Friday and on Monday. Freight services remain unaffected.

‘We apologise to passengers affected by this late decision but we were not left with any choice,’ Mr Dop said, adding that Condor remained ‘absolutely committed to maintaining the freight supply chain to the islands’.
