Youths own up to damaging beach kiosk
VANDALS responsible for damage at Saints Bay Kiosk owned up to their actions within 15 minutes of the incident being published on social media.
A group of youths were caught on CCTV throwing the flower boxes and showing ‘disregard to the property’, which recently reopened after being taken over by new tenants. In a social media post, the tenants said they were pleased to have recently installed cameras at the site, but that they did not think they would be looking back at footage so soon.
St Martin’s constable Dave Beausire said it was an isolated incident in the parish.
‘We had a couple of cracking photos of them and within 15 minutes they owned up to it. It was young kids, a couple of beers,’ he said.
‘We haven’t had any other problems.’
The kiosk reopened at the end of April after it closed the business at the height of Covid.
