The church bought La Fontenelle on the Ville au Roi, St Peter Port for just less than £2m. in 2015. Since then the building has had a downstairs living room converted into a prayer room. Across the four floors there are then five bedroom suites, as well as numerous other rooms including a snug, a sewing room, a drinks bar and two playrooms.
The open market property is now being marketed for £2.5m.
It has been used to house full-time missionaries and missionary service couples from the church.
These pairs would stay on the island for six months and volunteer at least once a week at charities such as Health Connections and Caritas Cafe.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, whose members are also known as Mormons, has approximately 30 members on the island.
Paul Ellis, part of a missionary service couple and member of the church, said that the missionaries have only left temporarily.
‘We no longer have any full-time missionaries in Guernsey as they have been re-assigned to England.
‘This does not mean that the missionaries will not be returning to the island, just that they are considering their next steps.’
Instead of using the house on the Ville au Roi as a base, the church has rented out Forest Douzaine Room for its meetings every Sunday at 10am.
