Local musician’s song features on Love Island
A YOUNG local musician was left shocked and surprised after hearing his own voice on Love Island.

18-year-old Oscar Armenta was told that his cover of No Right to Love You, by Ryan Lewis, had been shortlisted with the possibility of appearing on the popular reality show, however was not expecting the song to make it.
‘It was so surreal hearing myself and I still can’t quite believe it,’ he said.
‘I felt so excited and relieved that it got on as we weren’t sure if it would.’
Oscar’s introduction to the music industry was through the School of Popular Music with a video of him singing on the music school’s YouTube channel about a year ago.
After the video launched, a management company in the UK got in touch, and Oscar recorded the cover in May in a studio in Chichester.
‘I felt so excited and relieved that it got on as we weren’t sure if it would,’ he said.
‘I watch Love Island anyway but also watched the episode more closely to make sure we didn’t miss it.’
Oscar has recently spent some time in the UK sitting in with some songwriters, and hopes to have another release out later this year.
After ups and downs, can Andy win?
Guernsey has a double interest in this year’s Love Island, with islander Andrew Le Page still in the running to win the reality show. Lucy Rouget assess his chances and the latest action on our screens
Guernsey-born Love Island contestant Andrew Le Page has had plenty of ups and downs in the villa, but has now settled with new girlfriend, Tasha Ghouri.

From being bookmaker William Hill’s favourite to win, to least favourite in a matter of weeks, real estate agent Andrew is becoming a fan favourite once again.
After recoupling during Casa Amor, and several times ending up in the bottom three to be voted out of the show, Andrew and Tasha rebuilt their relationship, before Tasha made things official by asking him to be her boyfriend.
With the drama and focus now off of the couple, the Guernsey man is back in the running to win the whole show.
His friends, Luke Le Tissier and Toby Le Ray, were flown out by ITV2 recently to appear on Love Island: After Sun, to discuss with host Laura Whitmore how Andrew was getting on in the villa.
