Step into autumn with walking festival from Saturday
Guernsey's autumn walking festival will be taking its first steps on Saturday.
Professional guides from the Bailiwick of Guernsey Guild of Accredited Guides will be leading a variety of walks for the annual event, which will run until Sunday 2 October.
Organiser Carla Bauer said while National Mourning does not finish until the end of Monday, the festival would be starting as planned. However, islanders are urged to check with tour guides conducting walks on Monday to ensure their events are going ahead as planned.
Saturday sees the start of some more settled weather, with some cloud and sunshine.
‘It is always better with good weather, so that is great,’ Ms Bauer said.
‘We’ve got a packed 16 days of walks, so we are hoping lots of people will come along and join us.’
There are walks around Guernsey, as well as Lihou, Herm and Sark.
Saturday will begin with a Pleinmont cliff walk, a Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie-themed jaunt starting from Jerbourg and a Second World War history tour in Sark on Saturday.
Walks can be booked by contacting guides directly.
Full details of walks, charges and contact details can be found in the festival programme
