Bailiwick of Guernsey officials sent messages of support to Jersey after the incident, which happened in St Helier at about 4am on Saturday.

The Jersey authorities have moved the search operation to a recovery operation.

The cause of the incident is being investigated, with suspicions that it was a gas explosion.

As the incident unfolded on Saturday, Guernsey’s ambulance service was on standby over the weekend to help in Jersey if needed. They were stood down yesterday.
