The Rev. Beverley Herve will begin her ministry at the church on 28 February, having served as assistant curate at Castel church and St Matthew’s Church, Cobo, for the previous three years.

Mrs Herve was delighted to be able to take up the vacancy in the Vale.

‘Having completed my curacy, I applied to the Dean of Guernsey for the position, and luckily I got it. It’s a dream come true,’ she said.

Mrs Herve will be the first female rector of Vale church, and she was eager to get to know the church’s congregation and its wider community.

‘I am looking forward to meeting people who come to the regular church services, as well as those at the marriages, funerals, and baptisms that take place.

'There is already plenty of good work being done, so I would just like to build on what’s already here and play a role in people’s joys and sorrows,’ she said.

The Dean of Guernsey, the Very Rev. Tim Barker said he was delighted with the appointment.

‘We wanted Beverley to have an on-island appointment, so we invited her to interview and following a serious process, our panel was unanimous in choosing her for the role.

'It’s clear that she is the right person for the job.’

Father Stuart Tanswell was rector of the Vale until the end of 2021.
