Driver arrested, but five escape without serious injury from early hours crash

A MOTORIST was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after he crashed his car into the wall of a property along La Route de Cobo, Castel, early yesterday.

There were no serious injuries, despite one of the five men in the car reportedly being thrown from the vehicle.

All three emergency services were called to the scene at about 1am.

The car, an Audi Q7, which was coming from the direction of Saumarez Park, had apparently clipped the corner of the junction with Mont d’Aval before ending up mounting a low wall at a property next to travel agency World Travel

While two of the five people in the car were treated by the crew of one ambulance, a second arrived to look at the other three men, one of whom had sustained a broken nose.

All those in the car were assessed at the scene before being released.

An accident investigator was called and as a result the road was closed for several hours before reopening at about 5.15am.
