MPs share concerns over former MSG gynaecologist
MEMBERS of Parliament are now getting involved in the Dr Ali Shokouh-Amiri case as a petition to revoke his medical licence approaches 15,000 signatures.

The former Medical Specialist Group partner was issued with a warning due to his conduct with local patients between 2017 and 2018 at a tribunal hearing last week.
However, the gynaecologist was not stopped from practising, despite the tribunal finding that he had been over-familiar with patients, had surgical failures, and failed to have chaperones present.
He left the Medical Specialist Group in 2019, and now works at Southend University Hospital in Essex.
David Burton-Sampson, Labour MP for Southend West and Leigh, has shared on social media that he is enquiring about Dr Shokouh-Amiri being employed at Southend University Hospital.
‘Both my colleague Bayo Alaba and I are aware of the situation relating to a gynaecology consultant at Southend Hospital and we share some concerns,’ he said.
‘We’re awaiting some further responses from the hospital in relation to our ongoing enquiries.’
Dr Shokouh-Amiri's employer is continuing to support him.
‘We understand the strength of feeling about this case and want to reassure women that we always have safeguarding procedures and chaperoning in place in all our clinics,’ said Christine Blanshard, chief medical officer for Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
‘Dr Shokouh-Amiri has undergone a full tribunal hearing regarding historical allegations from his time at another hospital. Following this process, the tribunal concluded that he remains fit to practise.
'He continues to work at Southend Hospital in accordance with the terms of his registration. We have full confidence in his ability to provide safe, high-quality care to patients.’
