Brittany Ferries is a majority shareholder of the company, and as preparations for the new 15-year agreement continue, a very visual statement of the change has been unveiled.

The Islander has lost its pink and orange Condor branding while spending a month in Poland undergoing a refit.

It is the first of three vessels to be rebranded.

Brittany Ferries’ CEO Christophe Mathieu said the company did respect Condor’s 60-year legacy.

‘As we take on this new responsibility, we can reassure customers that our commitment is to enhance their travel experience, while continuing to strengthen the rich and diverse connections tying together Guernsey, France and the UK,’ he said.

‘This change in colours is therefore just the first step in improving the passenger experience which will focus on reliability, comfort, hospitality and value.’

The Islander will start to carry essential freight and passengers six days per week from Portsmouth from Monday.

The new livery has been applied throughout the vessel, and the ship’s crew will soon be assigned new uniforms. Other changes in the coming weeks include a new range of products in the on-board shop, while food and drink served on board will be brought into line with Brittany Ferries’ standards.

The Islander was only rebranded as a Condor vessel two years ago, having left New Zealand to enter service in the Channel Islands.

The Condor prefix will be dropped from all three vessels remaining in service.

The Voyager, which will operate high speed services between St Malo, Guernsey and Poole, and the Clipper, which will be a back-up vessel, will both be repainted in the coming months.

Islander’s first service sees to Guernsey will see her arrive into St Peter Port just after 4pm on Monday.
