So far 17 Guernsey schools have now been inspected, with most judged across five categories. Of the 16 previously judged, only two have scored excellent in any category – with St Martin’s and Notre Dame achieving one excellent each.
Le Rondin was given excellents for all five categories.
Headteacher Paula Sullivan said they were delighted with the report.
‘This achievement is a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of our incredible Le Rondin staff, our wonderful pupils, and our wider school community,’ she said.
‘At the heart of our success is a commitment to providing a nurturing and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive and achieve their full potential. We will continue to strive for excellence, ensuring that our school remains a place where every student feels valued, supported and challenged to be their very best.’
Just over 100 primary age pupils with cognition and learning needs attend the school, which opened in the Forest in 2005.
The report found they were ‘extremely well cared’, with every pupil experiencing high-quality education, positive relationships and clear routines.
‘As a result, the school has a transformational impact on children’s lives,’ the report stated.
Pupils are mostly confident and happy. They follow instructions classroom rules, while those pupils who need help to manage their behaviour get support to learn how to do this.
Staff go the extra mile to ensure that pupils have the skills and knowledge they need.
Many pupils are becoming fluent readers, with high-quality books chosen to interest and engage pupils.
Staff carefully choose the most effective way to help pupils to learn. For example, teaching short bursts of content to help pupils to practise something they find difficult.
‘The success of this approach can be seen across the school,’ the report stated.
The school has consistently high expectations of pupils’ behaviour, and pupils are taught how to make friends and interact with others.
The school’s leadership was described as exemplary. Unusually there were no suggestions for improvements.
Director of Education Nick Hynes said the ‘fantastic’ report reflected the strong leadership, and dedication of the school team.
‘We are incredibly proud of Le Rondin and look forward to supporting them as they continue to provide exceptional opportunities for all their pupils,’ he said.
