In total the three people – men aged 73 and 63, and a 66-year-old woman – are facing a total of more than 25 charges between them. No pleas were entered to any of the charges.

The case was adjourned until next month with the agreement of the prosecution and the defence. Then it will be decided if the case will be heard by the Royal Court.

All the defendants were bailed with conditions. Some of the charges date back to 2017. The most recent are from July 2024.

The 73-year-old man faces the most charges – four of indecent behaviour in public places, and another two of them jointly with the woman, at the East Arm of North Beach and at Portelet, Torteval.

He is also accused of sending five messages of an indecent manner to others via the telecommunications network, and four more of the possession of indecent images involving animals. The woman faces seven solo charges of indecent behaviour at various coastal locations and car parks in the island, including Les Vardes quarry, Pulias Bay, La Fontenelle car park in the Vale, Le Grand Pre nature reserve in the Vale, Saints Bay and Le Prevote, St Peter’s.

The offences cover a selection of specific dates between 2017 and 2024.

The three people are charged together with the ill-treatment of a dog through engaging in sexual acts, in an incident dating back to 2018, and the 63-year-old man is also charged under animal welfare laws with failing to ensure that the dog was free from distress, and a separate case of sending a message of indecent character through the telecommunications network in June 2024.

The three defendants are not being named at this point by the Guernsey Press in accordance with our long-standing policy not to name people accused of sexual offences until admission of guilt or conviction.
