Mr Kerridge, a TV regular with Michelin stars at two of his four gastropubs and restaurants, was full of praise in online posts to his hundreds of thousands of followers.

‘Yesterday I visited the most exciting new opening and had some of the most amazing, exciting and tasty food I’ve eaten in a long time!,’ he wrote. ‘Get on a plane people and go!’

Fronted by executive chef Nathan Davies, formely of Michelin-starred restaurant SY23 in Aberystwyth, Vraic offers a £145 tasting menu ‘shaped by Guernsey’s unique produce’ and drawing on his Welsh roots.

The menu features local seafood, seaweed and dairy products among its ingredients, with Mr Kerridge, who was also in the island earlier this year to speak at the Guernsey Literary Festival, highlighting a yoghurt and pinecone pudding as a standout dish among a 10-course service.

He has more than 700k followers on Instagram and more than 400k on Facebook, where the responses to the post were largely positive, save for some local people questioning the price.

Vraic’s website contains links to local travel options with Mr Davies previously expressing his hope that the new restaurant, which has been created at the former Roc Salt site, would attract visitors to the island.
