The back wall of the club has been decorated with a poppies and the silhouette of a soldier.
The artist responsible for the mural is Stevie Austen, a tattooist based at Ritual Tattoo Club, who got involved as her great uncle works behind the bar at the club and suggested that she could help with the new mural.
‘When we created the building and the wall was plain we thought it would be a great idea to have a mural on it,’ said treasurer Tracey Allen.
‘We gave Stevie the chance to be creative with this and it is absolutely stunning, it’s very fitting.’
Miss Austen started the design on her iPad as she would with a tattoo.
‘They sent me a picture of the wall. I put the design over it on the iPad as I do with tattoos using Procreate and sent it to them, and they came back asking when can I start? Then it was just a case of painting it,’ she said.
‘I thought it would be a lot quicker but as it is a textured wall it took a lot of correction and going over. We kept going back and forth between the red and white.
‘Norman Piette gave us a charity discount as the supplier of the paint, which was a great help.’
This was the first large mural she had done, only having done one smaller scale mural for a family member.
‘It’s been great doing it, and really good to do something on such a big scale.’
