The 61-year-old spoke only to confirm his name when he was brought up from custody.
He is charged with three counts of making indecent images of children. Such images are rated on a C to A ascending scale in terms of their seriousness. Numbers in this case are alleged to be 1,200, 150 and 80 respectively.
He is also accused of sending indecent messages and images via the telecommunications network using an account in the name of another, and possessing extreme pornographic images that portray a relevant act. No pleas were entered.
His case will now be committed to the Royal Court with a revised date of 29 October and there was no bail application.
