The full list of candidates sees three former deputies and six who have been previously unsuccessful in seeking the public’s votes.

Luke Graham, Rob Harnish, Sam Haskins, Julie-anne Headington, Tamara Menteshvili, Stephen Rouxel, Andy Taylor and Jonathan Wilson joined Nikki Symons, Carl Meerveld and Ross Le Brun to contest the public vote on 29 April, triggered by the resignation of disgraced former Chief Minister Jonathan Le Tocq.

Mr Graham, Mr Harnish, Mr Haskins, Mrs Symons, Ms Menteshvili, Mr Meerveld and Mr Le Brun all stood unsuccessfully in last year’s general election.

Six of them placed between 42nd and 60th, with Mr Graham placing 78th, despite having a very high profile throughout the campaign.

Mr Wilson stood unsuccessfully in 2020.

Mrs Headington is a new candidate who has affiliated with the political party Forward Guernsey.

She previously owned and ran Channel Islands Adjusters with her husband, and having closed the business at the turn of the year, is now working for Victim Support.

Forward Guernsey’s leader, Deputy Gavin St Pier, said the party would be hosting meet the candidate events at Beau Sejour and Les Cotils during April.

‘Julie-anne has been working quietly behind the scenes for the last nine months helping some of our most vulnerable guest workers, on whom we all rely, to navigate the challenges and processes they face when coming to work here,’ he said.

‘She would be a great addition to our tight, driven team to help deliver the manifesto on which we all stood.’
