Returning for its fifth year, Heritage Farm is preparing to once again welcome islanders to its much-loved weekend of autumnal fun on Saturday and Sunday.

The former dairy farm in Castel is owned by the Jee family and covers some 120 vergees.

‘It’s a way for people to get outside and hopefully learn something while having some fun,’ said Merrie Jee.

With a particular focus on tractors this year, gates will open from 10am to 5pm. Islanders are invited to climb aboard, experience the view from behind the wheel and discover intriguing tractor facts – hidden behind hand-crafted barn doors nestled around the farm.

Farmer Merrie Jee said with a lot of surprise additions born over the summer, there will also be plenty of fluffy young animals eager to meet their visitors – challenging them to guess their names.

‘It’s all about people interacting with animals and nature,’ she said, ‘having a chance to experience being on a farm.

‘I’ve lived here my whole life and my dad has been farming it for 40 years. He has a massive collection of farm things, so it’s a good excuse to show people things that they might not normally see or know about. It’s a bit of a passion project as well as bringing support for the farm.

‘We’ve got such amazing family, and friends who’ve become family, who come and help out.’

Stories will be told every hour under the popular Story Tree. There will be handmade, wooden games as well as a lucky dip for a farm-fun prize.

Located between Les Beaucamps High School and the Castel Douzaine Room, entrance to Heritage Farm will be £4 per person, and free for children under 2. No dogs will be permitted.
