Aurigny will fly between Guernsey and Jersey daily, with two services on most days, until at least the middle of December.

It will also operate between two and three services a day on the Guernsey-Southampton route during the same period.

The States-owned airline announced its expanded schedule for the next four-and-a-half weeks on Saturday evening, hours after it put on additional flights over the next few days, following the sudden collapse of Blue Islands.

‘As the only airline truly dedicated to our local communities, Aurigny has moved immediately to introduce new services from Guernsey to Southampton and Jersey to meet the real needs of the market and prevent any further disruption,’ said Aurigny chief executive Nico Bezuidenhout.

‘We have served the Channel Islands with pride since 1968 and are pleased to return to the essential air bridge route between Guernsey and Jersey.

‘We have developed these interim schedules within 18 hours of Blue Islands entering administration and will announce additional frequencies for Christmas and through the entire winter over the coming days.’

Until 17 December, with the exception of Fridays and Sundays, Aurigny will operate two daily flights on the Guernsey-Jersey route. It said it hoped that early morning and afternoon departures would offer both day trips and longer stays. It will operate one service each Friday and Sunday.

It pledged that fares on both the Guernsey-Jersey and Guernsey-Southampton routes would offer ‘strong value for money’ and told passengers that hold luggage would be included in the standard cost of a ticket.

Earlier on Saturday, Aurigny started offering ‘get me home’ fares for passengers left stranded when Blue Islands suspended services on Friday evening. It said these fares were in high demand and would now be extended until Friday 21 November.

The one-way fare is £79.99 between Guernsey and Southampton and £49.99 between Guernsey and Jersey.

The new schedule of flights is available for sale at Aurigny’s new app, website and contact centre with immediate effect.

Mr Bezuidenhout said the airline’s staff had worked through the night and all day to respond to Blue Islands’ collapse and that additional staff had been drafted into its contact centre to cope with an increased number of calls.
