A total of seven positions were available in St Peter Port, three in St Martin’s, and five in the Vale.

In St Peter Port, sitting douzenier Evita Bormane topped the poll. Gaby Betley, Marianne Muduviwa, David McGuigan and Shaun Broughton were each elected to four-year terms, with Rupert Morris and Rosie Henderson earning two- and one-year terms respectively.

Chris Nicolle won a two-way contest for Procureur of the Poor.

Peter Dorey, Cynthia Cormack and Christine Guerin have become douzeniers in St Martin’s, each for four years, while Anne Setters, Martine Ellis, Terence Ashworth, Julie-Anne Creed and Janine Le Cras were elected in Vale, all for four years except for Mrs Le Cras, who will serve a one-year term.

Mrs Ellis, a newcomer to Vale politics, but a resident in the parish for 25 years, said she was delighted to have been elected, adding it had been ‘very exciting’ to have seen her name on the ballot paper.

A professional with a range of experience in finance, education, leadership and professional development, she said her passion lay in service and helping people, and saw her new role in the douzaine as the logical next step, based on her career to date.

‘I’ve been wanting to do more for the parish and this seemed like a really good start to getting involved in public service,’ she said.

‘Admittedly I didn’t know too much about what the role entailed but having done some research and with the incredible help I received from Women In Public Life, I thought I’d go for it and luckily it’s paid off.’

As for what she hoped to achieve as a douzenier, Mrs Ellis said she would keep an open mind, at least in the first few months of her term.

‘I think a lot of it initially will be learning and observing from those who have already been douzeniers before me.

‘But I’m keen to offer my expertise in education and communication where I can, particularly when it comes to the parish’s website and keeping people updated with what’s going on.’
