G-ISLP is one of two aircraft that were used by Blue Islands which have been sitting at Guernsey Airport since the airline collapsed last month and the States decided to impound them as security for unpaid airport fees.
It had only started operating in the islands in June, as Blue Islands struggled to cope with its timetable during weeks of disruption.
The website Planespotters.net has now listed that it is set to be leased by Aurigny.
Aurigny’s chief executive officer Nico Bezuidenhout said the airline was focusing on strengthening its ability to protect lifeline air services.
‘We can confirm that the aircraft G-ISLP, an ATR 72-600, is currently in our hangar and we’re working through the necessary regulatory and operational approvals to get this into service,’ he said.
‘This step alone builds greater resilience into our operation and our capacity to respond when our communities need us most.’
He said that bringing the aircraft into the local operation would allow Aurigny to grow scheduled frequencies, add flexibility into the network and reinforce the reliability of air links.
The other Blue Islands plane at Guernsey Airport – G-ISLM – is listed as being impounded due to outstanding airport handling fees.
In terms of Blue Islands’ other planes, G-ISLO is still at Jersey Airport but is listed as having been leased. G-ISLN and G-ISLL recently flew to Exeter, where they are listed as being stored, but both also have new leases agreed.
