The 100 tickets for the event at Le Friquet were quickly snapped up.

The event followed the Big Hour month of fundraisers earlier this year to raise money for GMN.

Jean Owen, who was behind the initiative, said it had been great to do another event. It was supported by Oak Group, whose chief financial officer, Oliver De La Fosse, said the company was pleased to help.

‘It’s a very worthwhile cause. Jean is a wonderful person and we wanted to support her,’ he said.

Susie Hunt from GMN said the charity was grateful for how much Ms Owen raised, with the money from February's event partially used to buy new cuddle beds for Les Bourgs Hospice.

Mrs Hunt said she hoped to hold an extended Big Hour month of events every other year.

‘But in the meantime, we thought we would try this,’ she said, at Sunday’s skating event.

‘Jean has been an amazing fundraising machine.’
