This year the school decided to go bigger than it has ever done before.
‘We have done it for the last three years, and we have decided to do it differently this year. Instead of having one donation point, we have given each form a box, or more, and they had to fill it up,’ said teacher Sarah Diaz.
‘We decided to make it into a form and house competition. We’ve had a lot of entries this year and the students really got behind it.’
Alexa Knight, 12, said she had enjoyed taking part and helping with this year’s bumper reverse advent calendar.
‘It was actually quite fun,’ she said.
‘It is to help children and people that need more food and every tutor group has helped.’
Simon Fairclough, Guernsey Welfare Service manager, visited the school on Monday afternoon to collect the donations.
‘What an incredible donation, it is really appreciated, especially when we are at our busiest,’ he said.
‘We are expecting up to 700 families coming through the Welfare Service this Christmas. We get donations from a number of people, so thank you to everybody, it all counts.
‘It’s great to see the youngsters getting engaged.’
