The care home has an activity team of three who provide activities five days a week, often with three activities taking place at the same time either indoors or outdoors on site, and in the community.

‘It’s very important for residents and every week we try to have a big range of activities for them,’ said Dora Dunne, activities co-ordinator.

‘Not everybody likes certain things so some residents stay in their rooms, but this is special, so it is very busy.’

The home aims to keep its residents, including those with dementia, engaged and stimulated.

‘It is important for them as things like this can bring back memories,’ said Mrs Dunne.

Ballet d’Jerri’s visit was among many activities Le Platon has put on for its residents. They regularly have Boogie in the Bar events and have had Wag dogs and Alf Symphorien and his rabbits in, as well as visits from local singers.

‘We sometimes go out, we go for coffee and cake with the ladies sometimes, and today we have our Christmas party for them all to get involved with,’ said Mrs Dunne.

Dancer Donovan Delis-McCarthy said that going into care homes and schools was something that the company loves doing.

‘It’s really nice, we went to GreenAcres the last time we were over and it’s really special every time,’ he said.

‘Doing the workshops too makes it more of an exchange.’
