Guernsey’s The Dementia Perspective podcast – which was launched earlier this year – was recognised for its informative and positive series.
The episodes explore the science of dementia, lifestyle changes that may reduce risk, and the inspiring dementia journey of islander Jan Looijenga and his wife Pip.
‘While we didn’t win the gold, we’re super proud to be recognised among such strong competition,’ said Julie Thompson, manager of Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association.
‘A huge thank you to Ollie Guillou from OG Podcasts, who did an incredible job producing the series.
‘We were shortlisted from hundreds of other podcasts down to eight and the only one in the group to be highly commended.
‘For a little island, and Ollie’s a local, independent producer – to get that sort of accolade feels amazing. I’d like everybody to listen to it.
‘It’s very informative, but also very positive – it’s not all doom and gloom.
‘We started on eight episodes, we’re now on 11, and I’m sure that we’ll carry on.
‘There’s always something to talk about.’
Since the podcast series started in May, the local Alzheimer’s association has welcomed new members from its listeners.
Islanders keen to tune in can listen to the podcast here.
