New Rock Health owners Faye and Neil Lomax offered businesses who were evicted just before Christmas the chance to stay until 31 March rent-free.
B Creative Dance and Fitness is one of the businesses that has decided to use the support package offered by the Lomaxes.
‘The new owners that have come in got back off holiday after Christmas and wanted to get in contact and give us a bit more time,’ said Brandi Attewell from B Creative.
Between now and March, Mrs Attewell will be looking for a new home for her dance and fitness business.
‘It’s been quite challenging, but the community has been fantastic,’ she said.
‘I have seen a number of places but I am keeping our options open as it will be our forever B Creative home.’
Jackal Boxfit has also stayed at Rock Health. ‘I am still looking for new premises but I am very grateful as this has given a bit of security for me and the business,’ said owner Jimmy Lesbirel.
Island Gymnastics has been settling into its new home at Oaty and Joey’s, and other businesses moving included the Starlight Dance Academy, now located at St Martin’s Community Centre.
Delisles Church has been another option that groups have been looking at as new premises.
‘We did have a couple of enquiries but no one yet, as the space hasn’t been right for those who looked,’ said Merrie Jee from owner Heritage Farm.
‘I feel for them, as they have a lot of equipment and we can’t store it really unless they rent it out full time.’
