Spearheaded by head chef Nathan Davies, it opened its doors at Chouet last summer and has already been recognised among the best restaurants in the country.
It is the first local restaurant to hold the coveted accolade since Christophe at Fermain closed in 2009.
‘We’re absolutely thrilled to receive a Michelin star for Vraic’, said Mr Davies, who previously held a star in Wales before relocating to the Bailiwick.
‘It’s an incredible moment for our whole team.
‘This recognition is a testament to the hard work everyone has put in, and to the support we’ve had from our local producers and the wider Guernsey community since day one.
‘Moving here to open the restaurant was a big decision for our family, but the warmth and welcome we’ve received has been amazing.
‘I hope this achievement helps shine a light on just how special this island really is,’ he said.
The announcement was made at the annual Michelin Guide Ceremony, held in Dublin, where its 2026 selections were unveiled, including 20 new one-star restaurants across Great Britain and Ireland.
In its press release, Michelin described Vraic, which serves a tasting menu featuring local seafood, seaweed and dairy products among its ingredients, as a ‘proper destination restaurant’.
Another new local opening, Alba in Market Square, was also recognised by Michelin this year, earning a Bib Gourmand, a mark for restaurants which it says offer good food at a great price.
