Special delivery for Hanois lighthouse

A helicopter was buzzing around the island on Friday as it delivered supplies to the Hanois lighthouse off the south-west coast.

Duty harbour master Mike Harris said this was part of routine maintenance to all the lighthouses across the Channel Islands being carried out by Trinity House.

THV Galaeta, one of Trinity House's specialist vessels, was anchored off St Peter Port Harbour while the operation took place.

Trinity House is the general lighthouse authority for England, Wales and the Channel Islands and responsible for Les Hanois, Casquettes and Point Robert lighthouses, as well as those in Sark and Alderney and Blanchard Buoy.

It is thought that Les Casquettes and Point Robert could also be receiving a helicopter visit soon although the itinerary has yet to be confirmed.
