The pizza chain – which first opened in 1960 in the US – has started advertising for staff to run its new outlet in Guernsey. Advertisements on the job centre page of the gov.gg website show two vacancies, one for store manager and one for shift manager.
No opening date has been announced yet, but when the takeaway does open it will be at the Coop Locale at the Longstore.
A planning application for change of use of the site was approved last year. The Coop could reduce the size of its supermarket to allow for space for Domino’s in the same building. The plans changed the layout of the shop to free up space for the takeaway at the front of the building facing the sea. The space will be used for a kitchen, serving area and customer seating and there will be a partition to separate the Coop and Domino’s.
In the planning application the Coop said that the new takeaway would be open between 11am and 11.15pm Sunday to Thursday and from 11am until 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
There were concerns about the proposed opening hours when considering the application but the DPA dictated that there would be no public access after 11pm, suggesting after that time it would be a delivery service only after that time on Fridays and Saturdays.
The new store will not be the first Domino’s to open in the Channel Islands. The first store in Jersey was opened in 2017 in St Helier, with a second opening in St Brelade in 2023.
