The first show on 13 May sold out quickly. The newly-announced show, to take place the day before on Tuesday 12 May, then was close to selling out inside 24 hours, with just about 50 seats left by yesterday evening.
It appears as though the seats, being sold through Beau Sejour’s ticketing system, are for the theatre, though this is due to be closed in mid-May to allow for urgent technical updates, so the show may be moved to the David Ferguson Hall at the centre.
Ms Hopkins’ performance was raised in the States last month and the bookings defended by Education, Sport & Culture Committee president Paul Montague, who responded to concerns raised by Deputy Jayne Ozanne.
‘It would be entirely wrong for every booking to be elevated into a political decision,’ said Deputy Montague. The venue was booked by agents for Ms Hopkins, not booked by Beau Sejour staff.
Ms Hopkins announced the extra date on social media early on Saturday.
‘I have an apology to make,’ she said.
‘To those “concerned” by [my] stand up comedy show on Guernsey... we’ve added an extra date due to demand.’
