Vauvert Primary School opens its new library

Pupils at Vauvert Primary School have been settling into a new library this week.

Money was raised through fundraising initiatives, the parents, teachers and friends association and PwC contributed for the new furniture and the States Property Unit organised the room’s decoration.

School librarians, teachers, and people who helped to create the new library attended its opening.

‘I am very pleased to be here today at the end of this project which has been in the making for over two years,’ said headteacher Adrian Paul.

‘When I became headteacher in 2022, I felt that we needed a bigger library that could also be used for group teaching. Working with Mr Hodder from CCD Architects, who is one of our parents, a design was created that would create us the new library space and a storage cupboard that would make it much easier for our staff to access resources.’

Money was raised through fundraising initiatives, the parents, teachers and friends association and PwC contributed for the new furniture and the States Property Unit organised the room’s decoration. The Schools’ Library Service offered supported throughout.

‘In the summer of 2025 we held a sponsored swim that raised nearly £8,000. This, coupled with a generous donation from PwC and money raised by our PTFA gave us the financial ability to engage with Incube to produce a final design and then to supply us with the furniture,’ said Mr Paul.

‘On behalf of me and everyone at Vauvert, thank you all for everything everyone has given in making this project happen.’

The student librarians enjoyed seeing the new library too.

‘I like the seats, we were very excited to see it,’ said Lottie Meijer, 11.

CCD offered to help pro bono and Charlie Hodder, who is also a parent at the school, was there for the opening.

‘It’s amazing, it looks great,’ he said. ‘A lot of people have put a lot of work into it.’
