Held at the Jersey Museum, the final challenge saw the two winning schools from each of the local Guernsey and Jersey competitions go head-to-head on general knowledge, maths and creative-thinking rounds.
And this year, 27 was the lucky number for both Elizabeth College Junior School and Beaucamps High School – they each scored that number of points to take the trophies back to Guernsey.
Elizabeth College Junior School came out on top at the Year 6 heat, eight points ahead of Jersey’s St Mary’s Primary School.
‘It felt incredible to win because we beat everyone on our island, and then the winners in Jersey,’ said the local team. ‘Our school is very proud of us.’
And, after an extremely close Year 8 final, Beaucamps High School won by just two points against Jersey’s Victoria College.
Beaucamps’ team said they felt proud of their success, and believed it was the first States school to win the final De Putron Challenge for its age group.
‘Proud of the team, surprising to win, but in a really positive way,’ they said.
