Beetons, the popular takeaway on the corner of the Pitronnerie Road industrial estate, was bought by small UK chain Merchants for almost £1m. last November. New blue signage has now gone up on the premises.

Owner Antony Akathiotis had hoped to have the store open for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend but said now he was planning to open the doors on Wednesday 22 April.

‘We can’t wait to get going,’ he said. ‘But we want to do it properly. Staff are all lined up and ready to go.’
