The morning will commence with the Liberation 7 Road Race, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.

Athletes from the Guernsey Athletics Club will start the seven-mile route from Rousse to North Beach at 9am.

The race will also mark the 60th anniversary of the unbeaten course record set by the late Dave Kreckeler in 1966 of 34 minutes, 39 seconds.

The annual schools’ relay along the seafront will start at the same time.

Following the morning races, a variety of activities will unfold from 11am until late afternoon.

Guernsey Arts has organised a showcase at Castle Cornet, including a variety of music and performers showing extracts of one-act plays from 10am. This full programme can be found on Guernsey Arts social media channels.

Between the Weighbridge and Crown Pier, islanders will be invited to test their footwork skills on the new Aztech inflatable football pitch, and there will be a dance zone featuring performances from local groups.

Crown Pier will be the children’s zone – a bustling mix of activity, commotion and Royal Golden Guernsey Goats. Among its many fun offerings, there will be a craft tent run by Trinity Church, the UpClimbing wall, go-karts and face painting.

Along the South Esplanade, there will be a range of local craft, charity and artisan stallholders to browse.

‘The programme for St Peter Port is really varied, and I want to thank those involved in coming together on such an important day for our community,’ said Andy Cameron, Liberation Day lead and vice-president of Education, Sport & Culture.
