The club was cleared shortly before closing time and a precautionary cordon was set up from the Weighbridge taxi rank to the Ship and Crown pub, which also encompassed the lower part of the Pollet and the Lower Pollet.
Having publicised an incident on social media at about 5am, the police later confirmed, shortly before 9am, that a bomb threat had been made, the cordon had now been removed and a 33-year-old man had been arrested in connection to the incident.
He was charged with a bomb hoax under terrorism laws and is due in court next Monday. He has been released on bail.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else but would still like to hear from anyone with any information.
