The home, on Pleinmont Road in Torteval, caters for up to 26 residents, across 16 single and five twin bedrooms, all en-suite. It had been on the market for a year.
Following a sales process with specialist property adviser Christie & Co, which attracted interest from both Guernsey residents and applicants from the UK, a sale has been completed to Patience Healthcare (Guernsey) Ltd, a UK-based domiciliary care company.
The group runs three operations, all offering social care support for people in their own homes, based in Middlesbrough, Cheshire and Sussex. This will be the its first care home and venture outside of mainland UK.
‘Chateau des Tielles is a lovely property and business, and we are greatly looking forward to working with the staff, residents and their families and getting to know them,’ said Jack Baker, director at Patience Healthcare (Guernsey).
‘This is a very exciting opportunity for us, and we thank the sellers for entrusting their business with us.’
The home, a former hotel, was converted into a nursing home in 2004. The directors decided last year to sell up to retire from the care sector.
‘We are delighted to have achieved a sale of the business and hope that the new buyers will enjoy the business as much as we have,’ said Chateau des Tielles director Peter Adam.
‘My fellow directors and I have worked hard to create and maintain a well-run care home and provide high-quality care for our residents. We hope that the home will continue to be run with the same ethos as we had, and we wish them all the best.’
The home went on to the market in April 2025 at £5.25m. The sale price has not been disclosed.
‘We were pleased with the level of interest expressed in this business, and hope the new buyers will be very successful with their new venture,’ said Charles Phillips, director at Christie & Co.
